Back in 2003, we did something a little bit crazy--we took a huge leap of faith and bought a property that was loaded with potential. It was 40 acres, with easy access to town, surrounded by views of the Continental Divide, with four ponds, and the Fraser River running right through it.
It had three building on it, and needed a LOT of work. We made one of them our home and raised our kids kayaking down the river, fly-fishing in the ponds, and exploring on daily nature hikes on the 40-acres. It was so peaceful and perfect...except for one thing. We felt guilty for keeping this treasure all to ourselves. We imagined how it could change the lives of families to...just...slow...down and enjoy time together...roasting s'mores, catching fish, splashing in the ponds while wading in to catch minnows in a net. This isn't only the stuff that memories are made of--this is the stuff that LIFE is made of!
So, we started designing and planning, and doing exactly what everyone told us was impossible. We built a sustainable cabin on a river community that won the Parade of Homes "Best Development Concept Award".
We turned one of the homes into a spectacular log clubhouse with a pool, hot tub, game room, gym, and private spa. We left 60% open space for a natural wildlife preserve. We created amazing fish habitats and expanded wetlands. We designed breathtaking, highly efficient, green-built three bedroom/ three bath cabins right on the water, where you can hear the rippling sounds of the river right from your deck.
Every cabin was designed to be everything you need in a cozy second home in the mountains, with a small footprint, long before there was a tiny house movement. And best of all, this fabulous vacation cabin community is smack-dab in the middle of it all--just minutes from skiing, golf, lakes, and the National Forest.
We quickly sold out almost all of the river lots, and a few waterfall lots, and built an adorable cabin village, where you can find families on any weekend smiling, laughing, and playing outside together--biking, walking dogs, canoeing, kayaking, and fly-fishing in the summer; and sledding, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, making snowmen, having snowball fights, and ice fishing in the winter. It really is a dream come true--and not just for us.
Everyone has fallen in love with their little piece of heaven so much, that these cabins have almost never come back on the market. But right now, because their kids have grown up and moved away to go to college, one family realized that they weren't coming up as much as they used to. Now, their beautiful, fully furnished cabin is available---and it is RIGHT ON THE RIVER!
For just $389,000, someone can move in now and still enjoy spring skiing in the Rockies, while being right on the Fraser River, with a 40-acre backyard! Check it out here!
Whoever snaps up this rare gem will sure be glad that we were just crazy enough to follow our dreams--to create a place where families rediscover each other and all that is truly important!
